Report on work in the conditions of stabilization power outages on a regular basis as of 10/28/2022

The last two weeks have taken us back to the early days of massive missile attacks, but we are now much stronger and more united. In the first months, our network lost fiber optic channels due to damage to fiber optic cables. But then, electricity was supplied, and everything depended only on the Armed Forces and the courage of our craftsmen.

Today, Ukrainians face a new challenge. It is hard to imagine the modern world without electricity, telecommunications is no exception.

We would like to explain, using some examples, why the Internet disappears, and what a tremendous job our technical specialists are doing, what they did and what results they achieved.

De-energization of mainline equipment serving the district.Standard reserve batteries, which are installed by default, keep  2-4 hours. This is provided that the battery had time to recharge properly between power-ups. After this period, if the regular power supply has not been restored, the crew leaves with the generator and supplies the equipment with the help of the generator. All crews work overtime.

De-energization of equipment in neighboring houses. The Internet is a network of connected servers. Our network is built according to the “ring” topology. For example, 50 houses are united in one district, if there is no light in one, it will not affect the others. The main thing is that the main platform works. But, if more houses are disconnected from the power supply, then the Internet disappears in others as well. In such cases, we also send a crew with a generator to power the particular house and restore the connection.

There is no electricity in the house, but there is Internet, when the light was restored, the Internet disappeared. What to do?

Different phases of powering the house fall under different schedules. Most often, the provider's equipment is on the “technical” power phase. After turning off the light, you can connect the cable directly to the laptop or if there is a home  UPS to continue using the service via Wi-Fi. If it does not work, then expect the restoration of regular power supply to our equipment.

We analyzed the situation and carried out the following stabilization measures:

• Some sites (where possible) are already connected to different phases of power supply
• They identified highway sites, which are often without electricity, and delivered batteries there
• Purchased and received additional generators
• Retrained and expanded the staff of craftsmen for booking trips 

The terrorists wanted to intimidate us and wreak havoc, but we will adapt and become stronger.
